Pettigrew Recruitment Group is delighted to be working with an established and expanding civil engineering contractor to recruit an experienced Contracts Manager based from their office in Glasgow.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that has earned a strong reputation for delivering high-quality groundworks, infrastructure and civil engineering projects across Scotland’s Central Belt. With a growing order book and ambitious plans for the future, they are looking for a Contracts Manager who wants to make a genuine impact while developing their own career.

Working across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, enabling works, local authority, commercial and residential developments, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and profitably.

The Role:

Reporting directly to the Directors, you will oversee the successful delivery of multiple live contracts, providing leadership to site teams while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and commercial performance.

You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers, commercial teams, clients and subcontractors to ensure projects remain on programme and continue to exceed expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the operational delivery of multiple civil engineering, groundworks and infrastructure projects.
  • Support and mentor Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers and site teams.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
  • Monitor programmes, labour, plant and resources across several live sites.
  • Work alongside commercial colleagues to maximise project performance, manage costs and oversee variations and valuations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Chair and attend site meetings, client meetings and progress reviews.
  • Identify project risks early and implement practical solutions.
  • Support the mobilisation and successful delivery of newly secured projects.
  • Contribute to the continued development of operational processes as the business grows.
What We’re Looking For:

We’re keen to speak with experienced Contracts Managers or Senior Project Managers who have built their career within civil engineering, infrastructure or groundworks and are looking for their next challenge.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Proven experience delivering multiple civil engineering or groundworks projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of infrastructure, roads and sewers, enabling works and ideally residential plot works.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and an understanding of programme management and project profitability.
  • The ability to lead and motivate diverse site teams across multiple locations.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A practical, proactive approach with excellent decision-making ability.
  • A full UK driving licence.
