Pettigrew Recruitment Group is working with a well-established and growing civil engineering contractor to recruit an experienced Contracts Manager based from its Glasgow office.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a business with an excellent reputation for delivering groundworks, infrastructure and civil engineering projects across Scotland’s Central Belt. With a healthy pipeline of secured work and ambitious growth plans, our client is looking to appoint a Contracts Manager. Someone who can provide operational leadership across a diverse portfolio of projects while contributing to the continued success of the business.

From residential infrastructure and enabling works through to commercial and local authority projects, you’ll play a key role in ensuring contracts are delivered safely, efficiently and profitably.

The Role:

Reporting directly to the Directors, you’ll take responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple live contracts. Providing leadership and support to Project Managers, Site Managers and site teams while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and commercial performance.

Working closely with operational and commercial colleagues, as well as clients, consultants and subcontractors, you’ll ensure projects remain on programme, within budget and are delivered to the high standards the business is recognised for.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the operational delivery of multiple civil engineering, infrastructure and groundworks projects.
  • Provide leadership, support and mentoring to Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers and site teams.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
  • Monitor project programmes, labour, plant and resource requirements across multiple live sites.
  • Work alongside the commercial team to maximise project performance, manage costs and oversee variations and valuations.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Chair and attend project, client and progress meetings.
  • Identify project risks early and implement practical, effective solutions.
  • Support the mobilisation and successful delivery of newly secured contracts.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of operational processes as the business continues to grow.
About You:

We’re keen to speak with experienced Contracts Managers or Senior Project Managers looking to take the next step in their career within a progressive civil engineering contractor.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Proven experience overseeing multiple civil engineering or groundworks projects simultaneously.
  • Strong technical knowledge of infrastructure, roads and sewers, enabling works and, ideally, residential plot works.
  • Excellent commercial awareness with a sound understanding of programme management and project profitability.
  • A proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams across multiple sites.
  • Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with confident decision-making abilities.
  • A full UK driving licence.
