Bid Coordinator / Junior Bid Writer
Location: Remote
Employment: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: Available on request
Are you a strong communicator who enjoys writing, researching, organising information and bringing different ideas together?
Pettigrew Recruitment Group is supporting a growing business consultancy with the appointment of a Bid Coordinator / Junior Bid Writer to join its established and supportive bid team.
Why This Role Could Be Right For You:
You may already have some experience in bids, tenders or proposals. Equally, your background could be in copy-writing, administration, project coordination, communications, account management or another fast-paced environment where deadlines, accuracy and clear communication matter.
You will not be expected to arrive knowing everything. More important is your attitude, your willingness to learn and your confidence in asking thoughtful questions, sharing ideas and working collaboratively with colleagues.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop a career in bid writing, build valuable commercial and communication skills, and learn from an experienced team that will support you as your confidence and responsibilities grow.
The Role:
As Bid Coordinator / Junior Bid Writer, you will become involved in the full bid process, supporting clients and colleagues from the initial tender opportunity through to the final submission.
Writing will form an important part of the role, but it will not be the whole job. Depending on your experience and confidence, you could be:
- Researching clients and opportunities.
- Gathering evidence and case studies.
- Interviewing subject-matter experts.
- Coordinating actions and deadlines.
- Drafting and editing tender responses.
- Supporting submission planning and final reviews.
No two days will be exactly the same. One day may involve reviewing tender documents and researching a new client. Another could involve gathering information from a project team, drafting a response, coordinating deadlines or helping to prepare a final submission.
The position offers genuine scope to learn, develop and gradually take ownership of more complex areas of the bid process.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing tender documents and identifying key requirements, deadlines and evaluation criteria.
- Researching clients, markets, contracts and competitors.
- Drafting and editing clear, compelling tender responses.
- Gathering case studies, performance data and supporting evidence.
- Speaking with subject-matter experts to obtain the information needed for submissions.
- Preparing bid plans, action trackers and response schedules.
- Coordinating information from clients, directors and technical teams.
- Monitoring deadlines and raising potential risks at an early stage.
- Proofreading documents for accuracy, consistency and readability.
- Maintaining organised bid folders, records and document versions.
- Supporting final reviews, approvals and electronic submissions.
- Capturing feedback and lessons that can improve future bids.
You will not be expected to lead every part of the process from day one. Responsibility will be matched to your experience, strengths and confidence, with practical support available as you develop.
About You:
We are looking for the right person rather than the perfect CV.
Formal bid experience would be helpful, but it is not essential. Relevant experience could come from bid writing, copy-writing, project coordination, research, administration, account management, communications or another role involving competing priorities and deadlines.
You Are Likely To Be Someone Who:
- Communicates clearly and writes accurately.
- Enjoys asking questions and learning how businesses work.
- Can organise information and manage deadlines.
- Is comfortable following up with people to obtain what is needed.
- Can identify missing information, inconsistencies or unsupported claims.
- Accepts feedback positively and applies it to future work.
- Takes responsibility while keeping others informed.
- Builds rapport with a range of personalities.
- Is adaptable, proactive and willing to help the wider team.
- Brings a grounded personality and a good sense of humour.
Kindness, honesty, curiosity and humility are important to the business. The team values people who share ideas, listen to others, acknowledge mistakes and care more about producing strong work together than receiving individual credit.
What Is On Offer:
- Full time, permanent role with flexible working options.
- Training, coaching and practical development.
- Exposure to the full bid process.
- Regular guidance, feedback and support.
- The freedom to develop around your strengths, interests and ambitions.
- The opportunity to take greater ownership as your skills and confidence grow.
- A supportive culture that respects personal commitments and reasonable boundaries.
Flexibility That Is Genuinely Flexible:
This is a predominantly remote position, with an entirely optional opportunity to work from an office where suitable space is available.
The role is based around 37.5 hours per week, but there is flexibility over when those hours are worked. The business does not measure commitment through fixed desk hours.
Provided that you communicate clearly, attend agreed meetings, support your colleagues and complete work to the required standard and deadline, you can agree a working pattern that suits your lifestyle and responsibilities.
The team offers a responsive service to clients, but it does not operate as a 24-hour business. Reasonable personal boundaries and commitments outside work are respected.
This opportunity could suit someone taking their first step into bids, an experienced administrator or coordinator looking for a more creative career, or a strong writer who wants to develop broader commercial and client-facing skills.
You do not need to arrive fully formed. You do need to bring curiosity, care, a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in becoming part of a supportive and growing team.
